Welcome

This is a first.

My relation with writing has been a mixed one. While it seemed a burden in my teenage years, over the last years it has become a way of expressing my thoughts, clearing my mind and crafting ideas. This is why I decided to start writing newsletters about what’s going on in my life.

I don’t know where this will take me and what will come up. You might read about things that interest me or move me, or stuff that I have been doing lately. It could be trivial or substantial. You decide. There might be recommendations for things that I am into or invitations to some offers I am putting out in the world.

There are definitely other ways of doing this. We have so many ways to share our lives on social media, and I do use a few of them. Nevertheless, I wanted to use this medium here to be more free in how and what I share, and I wanted to come to you directly instead of being delivered through an algorithm.

Why did you get this? Well, we have met at some stage of our lives and this is how I got your email. Through business, friendship, travel or many other ways. If you are not interested in more stuff in your inbox, feel free to unsubscribe at the end of this email and I won’t bother you again.

On a personal note

My birthday - I turned 50 🫣

That’s a big number and I haven’t seen it coming. I am not sure if I was struck by the number, but it took me a little longer to adjust to the new year. Usually, the time between Christmas and my birthday mid January is always a bit different and the new year starts just after that mark. This time, it took me a few more days to adjust and find myself feeling ready for the new year. What does 50 mean to me? Here is a little exerpt from what I wrote in my Instagram Post

✨ So far, I have learned:

Don't bring suffering into this world.
I am much more than what I think.

🤓 What I am still learning:

To speak my desires and love more freely.
To be more playful.
To ask for help.

🙏🏼 My whish for the next decade:

Build a place where I can host and welcome others to come together to grow and become more at peace with themselves.
To be happy, wild and free.

What I have been reading & watching

On the war in Palestine

I am not attempting to find the right words to define this conflict or to take a side. It still is a topic I don’t feel sufficiently educated enough to talk about. My understanding of life is that we are here to realize that we should stop putting suffering into this world. Each one of us individually. Towards our fellow human beings, but also to every other sentient being. Still, the current events and the ongoing discussion on different channels left me with the desire to take a step back and educate myself. Taking time to dive into topics like this doesn’t mean that I can establish a final opinion or take a side. It is an attempt to grasp the difficulties that we face as humans to come together, live in peace and build lasting societies that allow everyone to thrive and live free from fear and oppression.

Besides the following recommendations, I have listened to many voices, on podcasts, YouTube or traditional media. I have read countless articles and spent quite some time over the past few weeks and month on this important topic. The following are two books that to me stood out and that I would like to share.

“The Hundred Years War on Palestine” by Rashid Khalidi left me sometimes confused and angry about both sides. The book conveys the personal experience of the author, which is deeply linked to historic events, thus transmitting a more atmospheric view on the topic.

“The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine” by Ilan Pappe comes more like a scientific research, shedding new light on some crucial and dark moments in the history of Palestine and Israel.

“The Settlers” is a documentary by Shimon Dotan - Seeing and listening to some beliefs of some people in the film is sometimes challenging yet revealing.

At this point, I feel I have read enough about this conflict for the moment. There is so much suffering going on in the world that I can’t put my energy constantly on these topics. I feel with those who can’t escape this reality, and I am grateful for those who dedicate their life to shed more light onto the suffering of their fellow human beings.

My Ibiza Moment

Full Moon Rise and Sunset

On the 25th of January, we had a beautiful full moon rise over the sea, followed 15 min later by a spectacular sunset over the Mediterranean. Both were visible in the same spot at Ses Portes, the southern tip of Ibiza, just a few minutes from my home in the natural park of Ses Salinas.

2024 here we go

January is over, my first newsletter is out! Now it’s time to bring more joyful connections, learnings, and smiles into 2024.
